Following are the Generation of Hilux which began the product process from year 1968.
HILUX MODEL LINEUP
- First Generation (1968–1972)
Toyota changed the name from Briska and Hilux was born. Hilux became popular because of its excellent performance
- Second Generation (1972–1978)
A full model change was implemented with greater safety.
- Third Generation (1978–1983)
Became first stylish 4WD and first rear-wheel drive mode to feature a diesel engine.
- Fourth generation (1983–1988)
Extra Cab was added and Hilux became the first truck to achieve a increased production over millions of units.
- Fifth generation (1988–1997)
Introduction of a new 2.8 liter diesel engine Powerful, tough and comfortable.
- Sixth generation (1997–2005)
Significant attention was paid to the cabin, exterior styling, with matching door trim.
- Seventh generation (2004–2015)
Hilux achieve cumulative sales of over 500,000 units.
- Eighth generation (2015–present)
The New Hilux even more advanced than ever before.

ReplyDeleteHi Chandima,TMC have there globalization policy for there vehicle Production, like other auto makers. Reason for this TMC as a company growing bigger and it is easy for them administrate. Also TMC want to be known as global company with operationS is being diversified all over the world.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to R&D although TMC has a R&D centre in Thailand Major Decisions & Resarch approvels for new models is being done at TMC research center in Nagoya Japan and for your information New Hilux Chief has visited 126 out 210 countries which toyota operates to check the real hilux users view points before developing new Hilux which was lunched in 2015.
Hi Uditha, your thinking is correct, It design very similar to US Made toyota Tundra in addition to for your information that Chief engineer in charge of designing new Hilux have visited 125 countries out of 200 countries where toyota operates to get the user opinion in respective countries before designing.
